MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

It is the largest national park in Uganda with waterfalls that must rank among the most electrifying sights in all of East Africa. Not only that, it boasts an incredible profusion of wildlife from hippos, crocodiles and water birds to elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and lions..

Murchison Falls National Park lies about 300km north of Kampala, in the northwest of Uganda. The region is bisected by the Victoria Nile which flows west from Lake Kyoga to Lake Albert. En route it is transformed into an explosive froth of thunderous white water as it descends a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley Escarpment..

You can see the Falls from a river boat. But to appreciate their raw power, take a tour to the viewpoint at the top. Make time, too, to take a safari and maybe a second boat trip west from Paraa to see the stunning birdlife of the Lake Albert Delta. The Kabubbu Resort Centre can help you organise your trip.

We can take you there and arrange meals, accommodation, park permits and guides to ensure you get the most from your visit. And you can combine it with our other tours to make your own unique adventure. In the 1960's many regarded Murchison – with its waterfalls, prolific game and extensive range of lodges – as one of the best national parks in this part of Africa. Although it went into decline in the 70's and 80's, that trend has been reversed. Conservationists are now working to return rhinos to the park and rangers have even spotted cheetah in the northern sector.
